Apologetics has nothing to do with apologizing.
The term simply means defending the Christian faith. It is a transliteration from the Greek apologia which means to answer, or to defend, or to give a reason. We find this in 1 Peter 3:15 "always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you." This is the idea of apologetics, to give a reason for the hope that is in us.

What do apologists do?  They defend Christianity from whatever opposes it. And there is much opposition to Christianity. There are competing worldviews, such as secularism, Islam, or materialism, there is a denial of the supernatural that is growing, and there is a culture that is becoming openly hostile to Christianity and its claims.

I view my ministry primarily as one to the church. Churches need to hear the message that the Christian faith is reasonable, that it makes sense to believe in the God of the Bible, and they need to hear why it is reasonable.
